It’s always worth keeping hold of spare bits of wood. Take this fence post, for example.

We needed a piece of wood to use as a storage solution at the workshop, and we had this old fence stake handy. So, we hand-planed most of the old surface off, and the wood we found underneath turned out to be beautiful, with fantastic grain and colour.

None of us are wood experts, and we’re wondering whether this wood might be oak, chestnut, or potentially another type of hardwood. Is there a knowledgeable person out there who can help us fill in this gap in our understanding? Let us know in the comments!
